Description
The San Jose and Santa Clara County Equal Suffrage Association sponsored this float in the Floral Carnival and Feast of Lanterns parade on May Day, 1909, in Los Gatos. Here the members are lined up outside the El Monte Hotel, waiting for a signal to pull onto Main Street. A short time later, on July 3, 1909, the El Monte burned to the ground, an act of arson.
