SP003Description
Harold Homer Chase (1883-1947) was born at 321 University Avenue in Los Gatos February 13, 1883. He made his professional debut in 1903. Babe Ruth once remarked, "For my dough, Hal Chase was the greatest first baseman who ever lived." Chase's reputation as a "game fixer" led to his banishment from baseball after speculation surfaced that he was the mastermind of the 1919 Black Sox scandal. This colored baseball card of Hal Chase dressed in uniform advertises tobacco on the back. SP003Collection
