BER070Description
Bound for the cement kilns above Cupertino, the Permanente Local travels past orchards along Wedgewood Avenue on the Mayfield Cut-Off. The local, typically based from San Jose's Newhall Yard, would follow the cut-off to Simla Junction near Monta Vista, where it would split onto Kaiser Cement Corporation's privately owned 1.7 mile spur. Opened in 1939, the plant remains active. BER070Collection
