Fred and Lyman Bergtold were members of this Los Gatos troop. August 6, 1928 Los Gatos Star article reports: "Scouts, M. J. Bertin and "Chef" Espinosa Camp at Big Sur On Monday morning, August 6th, the following Los Gatos Boy Scouts of Troop 2 under the leadership of Scoutmaster Marc Vertin, left for their annual Summer Camp at Big Sur, Santa Barbara National Forest. Robt. Ballin, Dick Ballin, Lyman Bergtold, Donald Case, John Jones Jr., James Crider, Jr., James Bacigalupi Jr., Robt. Nicholas, Howard Lewis, Gordon Gould, Clarence Hamsher, Melvin Whiteman, Robt. Fowler, Howard Blethen Jr., Albert Mason, Lyndon Farwell, Wm. Baleh, Gus Mack. Scout "Chef" Joe Espinosa will be with the scouts as usual; and the truck for transportation of supplies has been generously furnished by Sewall S. Brown. The Scouts will remain in Camp until August 20th. This is their fourth camp at Big Sur. Previous camps have been conducted at Yosemite National Park, Big Basin and Boulder Creek. Direct communication will be maintained with Los Gatos and elsewhere thru the medium of their own Radio Station, 6ZAT, which they establish each year at Big Sur. Mr. Bruce STone of Campbell will handle messages for the Scouts here." BGF004Collection
