Description

A hay wagon is headed west on Main Street toward the "witch's hat" turret of the Hofstra Block (now the La Canada Building). The ornate tower of the Wilcox Building, which housed the Commercial Bank, can be seen at Main and Oak Street (now Montebello Way). On the right is the post office and just west of that is Fred Knowles' ice cream parlor. On the left side of the street are a harness maker, a restaurant, and a shoe store. A catastrophic fire on October 13, 1901, destroyed about 60 buildings between the bridge and the railroad tracks. SS106
