Robert Scott (1893-1918) was raised on his parents' 30-acre peach ranch on National Avenue, neighboring the Cilker ranch. The influenza pandemic of 1918 - 1919, a global disaster, killed an estimated 675,000 Americans, including 25-year-old Robert. The flu was most deadly for people between the ages of 20 and 40.
