MARC J. VERTIN 1932 - 1940 Marc J. Vertin was born in San Jose on August 29, 1896. He moved to Los Gatos in 1915. His business was in accounting and insurance. Vertin married Irene Hewitt of Los Gatos. They had two sons -- John and James. He served on the Town Council from 1931 to 1942, and four terms as mayor from 1932 to 1940. He took great pride in the community and led it through a period of local and national economic trauma. He was also very active in youth work, especially scouting. From 1950 to 1959, Vertin served on the Planning Commission until his death on December 14, 1959. PE239Collection
