Description

Roy Noel Francis was born in the Union District on Christmas Day, 1886. From early childhood he invented mechanical devices. He owned the plane shown here at "Francis Air Field" at the corner of Blossom Hill Road and Union Ave. His friend Joseph Scott is the man dressed in overalls. Roy's mother was a member of the LaMontagne family of Los Gatos. According to census information, Roy's first wife was named Gertrude, and they had a daughter named Eva. A second marriage to Ruby Jensen ended when she died after just four months of marriage. Roy Francis died in San Francisco in 1952. FIN016
