FIN061Description
Roy Francis is pictured here in Redding, California in 1912. An article in the September 9, 1912 San Jose Mercury newspaper noted that "Roy Francis has left the farm once more. After a period of about two weeks, passed in milking cows, feeding chickens, horses, pigs and the other animals of the farm, he heard the call of the biplane and responded. Yesterday morning at 9:20 o'clock, he rose over the treetops of Los Gatos and in exactly ten minutes he was on the ground in a field just south of town on the Monterey Road." He often gave exhibitions of flying. FIN061Collection
