After discharging its passengers, the Los Gatos commutes deadheaded back to San Jose, where they would be serviced and stored overnight. While this photograph depicts the weekday evening deadhead turning on Vasona Wye, typical practice was to run around the train at Los Gatos, taking the nine-mile trip to San Jose tender first. Regulars on the run were fitted with rear pilots for this reason. CHS016Collection
