CON009Description
Two Los Gatos families of Italian descent owned and operated various eating, sleeping, and dining/drinking establishments in this building at 27 East Main Street from 1904 into the 1960s. Luigi Mariotti operated his hotel and saloon first, followed by Reginald J. Puccinelli, whose business is pictured here in 1954. The two families were related by marriage. The center door of the building was the entrance to the upstairs hotel, known through the years as the Mariotti Hotel, and later the Los Gatos Hotel. "Reggie's Inn" was a popular spot, with almost a "frontier" feel to the dimly lit bar. The owner's collection of antique rifles, swords, bows and arrows was tacked up on the walls as decor. Some artifacts were from the two world wars, and some were brought in by customers who had collected them in their travels. Developer Dave Flick completed his Soda Words Plaza on this site in 1998.Collection
