Description

Nearly all of Los Gatos attended the grand opening of the Hotel Lyndon on June 1, 1899. It replaced an earlier hotel which burned down on May 26, 1898. Lumber to construct the hotel amounted to 300,000 feet, much of it redwood, from James Lyndon's lumber yard. Lena Barbieri recalled that in the 1920s, the Lyndon Hotel was staffed by Filipinos, who had quarters in a separate building behind the hotel.
