Sepia tone head shot of Paul E. Curtis, Sr. (1888-1965) in his WWI Army uniform. He was prominent in the business and financial circles of Los Gatos for more than 50 years. He arrived in Los Gatos as a boy of 13 at the turn of the twentieth-century. A graduate of Los Gatos High School, he attended business college in San Jose before beginning his association with the Bank of Los Gatos at age 19. His career was interrupted by service in the U. S. Army in France and Germany during the war. When he returned he purchased the Los Gatos Hardware Company in 1919, and operated it until 1926. Later he managed Redwood Estates properties as they developed. In the early 1930s he joined the First National Bank of Los Gatos, eventually becoming president. CUR016Collection
