Description

The Hotel Rex (Beckwith Block) sign can be seen on the right in this photo. The brick building had been constructed in 1893 with the idea of preventing loss by fire. It housed the post office for a time before it became the Rex Hotel, which existed for much of the 20th century. The photographer, John Whisenant, was a local Main Street business man. DIS029
