The University Avenue Grammar School, built in 1923, replaced the old Central School. The style of this building was stongly influenced by the Mission San Juan Capistrano. It served as the town grade school until 1961 when it was declared to be structually unsafe. After extensive upgrading and modification, the building was re-opened as the Old Town Shopping Center in 1964. This photo was taken from the corner of Mullen and University Avenues. SCH020Collection
