FAR017Description
Crossing Los Gatos Creek was a challenge for early settlers. In winter, undammed waters ran swift and full, washing away early bridges. An 1871 flood resulted in people being transported over the creek in swinging baskets. When this wooden structure opened for horse-and-buggy traffic in May, 1882, the town celebrated by gathering for this portrait. FAR017Collection
