FAR050Description
Showing the construction of the cinderblock building at 245 W. Main St., 1956-57, that was occupied by McAbee's Building & Fuel in 1958-62. In 1963-64, the Happy Dragon Thrift Shop moved into the building, where it remains to this day. The women of the Happy Dragon came up with $7,000 for a down payment by sending letters to Presbyterian churches around the country, asking for retail stamps - Green Stamps, Blue Chip Stamps, and others that could be redeemed for cash. The proceeds from the Happy Dragon support Ming Quong. FAR050Collection
