FB006Description
After the arrival of the narrow gauge railroad in Los Gatos in 1878, a spur line, pictured here, was run to the mill. In 1870, the Mill was incorporated under the name "Los Gatos Manufacturing Company." Stockholders included W. S. McMurtry, who supervised operations, John Young McMillan, W.H. Rector, C.C. Hayward, and W.H. Rogers. In 1881, the newly founded Los Gatos Weekly News reported the mill was running day and night, had a capacity for 200 barrels per day, and could grind 25 tons of grain in 24 hours. FB006Collection
