These trains were exhibited at the World's Colombian Exhibition of 1893 in Chicago. In the background is the New York Central and Hudson #999, the first locomotive in the United States to break 100 mph. In the foreground is the De Witt Clinton, one of the first stream locomotives to operate in the United States. It was built in 1831. It ran on the Mohawk & Hudson railroad between Albany and Schenectady, NY. It was the first locomotive to operate in New York State. FRA054aCollection
