HC005Description
Forbes Mill, located on the east bank of Los Gatos Creek just north of the Main Street bridge, was the first commercial building in Los Gatos. James Alexander Forbes completed the building in 1854. Originally the flour mill was four stories high. After passing from one owner to another, the mill was reduced in size by a fire and was last operated on January 14, 1887. Demolition began in 1916, and only the building's annex survives. HC005Collection
