HC045Description
Initiated by John Cilker and built in 1886 at a cost of $50,000 on Winery Road, later Villa Avenue. Located against the hill below Cleland Avenue and behind property fronting on East Main Street, this became the site of the town Pageants, which ran most years between 1919 and 1947. The winery processed 3,000 tons of grapes annually, producing about 500,000 gallons of wine in a year, along with quantities of brandy, port and sherry. HC045Collection
