HC072Description
This landmark building on East Main Street was built after the fire of 1891. In 1895 it housed the Scofield and Beach Confectionery Shop, which featured marble top tables, a Brussels carpet on the floor, and a black onyx and green mottled Italian marble soda fountain. For many years, the Beckwith served as the Rex Hotel. Badly damaged in the 1989 Loma Prieta earthquake, it had to be almost completely rebuilt. HC072Collection
