HC003Description
Forbes Mill, located on the east bank of Los Gatos Creek just north of the Main Street bridge, was the first commercial building in Los Gatos. James Alexander Forbes completed the building in 1854. Originally the flour mill was four stories high. After passing from one owner to another, the mill was last operated on January 14, 1887. Thereafter the Los Gatos Ice and Power Company and Los Gatos Gas Company used the building. PG&E purchased the building in 1912. Only the storage annex still survives, and now serves as the History Museum of Los Gatos. HC003Collection
