Carl, Dean and Mary Balch in Santa Cruz. Dean Balch was a long-time local banker and civic leader. He was chairman of the Town Board of Trustees (Mayor) from 1914-1916. In this photograph, it appears that the initials "M + C B" are carved in the background, probably for Mary and Carl Balch. BAL016
