Description

Bogart's Hardware Store was located at 14 N. Santa Cruz Avenue, and is pictured here before 1916 when it was purchased by A. W. Templeman and moved, in 1926, to 24 N. Santa Cruz. The three-story building at 24 N. Santa Cruz still stands, and it had the first freight elevator in town. Pictured, left to right, are A.W. Templeman, Andrew Bogart (son of owner A. W. Bogart), Mr. Latham, and Charles Suydam. Mima remembers that Mr. Latham liked to play practical jokes. One day he set all the alarm clocks to go off. A "very particular lady" was embarrassed when she purchased one and it sounded on the way home. She couldn't get it to stop. TEM005a
