Description

Located on the northeast corner of East Main Street and Pleasant Street, this hotel was successively named the Coleman House, the Alpine, the Rockhaven, and finally the El Monte. It burned to the ground in 1909, probably a case of arson. The El Monte was the sometime-home of Ambrose Bierce in the 1890s. HOT035
