Chief, the town dog, arrived at school at 8:30 a.m., in time to line up at the door of Macy William's fourth-grade classroom with his "classmates." After standing for the Pledge of Allegiance, he would curl up in an aisle, where everyone had to step over him. The children donated pennies for his collar and vaccinations. Chief spent his nights on the porch at the Hotel Lyndon. CHF011
