Hotel Lyndon 2Entry/Object ID
ROS012Description
A number of different hostelries or inns have occupied the land at the southwest corner of Main Street and University Avenue, beginning with the Ten Mile House in 1860. Its name came from its distance from San Jose. When the narrow-gauge railroad came to town in 1878, John Lyndon deeded land to the South Pacific Coast Railroad with the provision that his hotel be moved across the street. The old building survived the move, was remodeled at that time, and rebuilt in 1883. ROS012Subject
