CECIL B. SPOTSWOOD 1944 - 1946 Cecil B. Spotswood was born in Hensel, North Dakota on June 21, 1896. He arrived in Los Gatos in 1923 with his wife, Minnie. They were married in North Dakota on October 17, 1917. They had a daughter, Marilyn Friesen. For the first ten years, he worked for Crider's Department Store. Then in 1933, he became a Dodge-Plymouth dealer and opened Spotswood Motor Sales in Los Gatos. He maintained the dealership until 1959. Spotswood served on the Los Gatos Town Council from 1940 to 1946 and was mayor from 1944 to 1946. He represented the township of Los Gatos at the formation meeting of the United Nations which was held in San Francisco at that time. During the war, he served on the local draft board. He was also a member of the Library Commission. Spotswood died on June 15, 1960. PE247
