Description

Pictures shows members of a German colony with their Chinese cook. Most of the locomotive workers who built the railroads to connect the Santa Clara Valley with Santa Cruz were Chinese. Many sacrificed their lives while working for the railroads. When creating a tunnel through the Santa Cruz Mountains, there was a natural gas explosion and thirty two men were killed. MTN019
