PE213Description
Fannie (1857-1932) and Frank (1847-1917) Jackson were Los Gatos pioneers who have a street named for them. They were married in San Jose in 1880 and came to Los Gatos in 1883, where Frank purchased a ranch of 13 acres 'in the town.' According to his biographical sketch in 'Pen Pictures of the Garden of the World,' published in 1888, the ranch contained 1,000 trees, 4 years old, of which 750 were French prunes, 150 peaches and 100 'in a family orchard.' In 1884, he started a book, stationery and jewelry store on Main Street across from College Avenue. He was postmaster of Los Gatos in 1885. Fannie Fern Ringo was Frank's second wife. She left Missouri in 1864, departing with her family in a wagon train heading for California. Their destination was San Jose, where Mrs. Ringo's sister, Augusta Peters Younger, resided with her husband, Col. Coleman Younger. Younger, a prominent man in San Jose, was an uncle to the outlaw Younger brothers who rode with Jesse and Frank James. PE213Collection
