RES128Description
Peter Johnson owned 131 acres on El Monte Hill and built this house perhaps as early as the 1860s. Nearby Stacia Street is named for one of his daughters. The Coast Live Oak tree in the front yard is as old as 200 years. Johnson subdivided his property, published the "Los Gatos Mail" newspaper, and served on the town council. In 1987, when Callie Brophy and Dr. Alton Hilton were owners, the house received a Bellringer Award. In 1996 the house was featured on the Los Gatos Museums Historic Homes Tour. RES128Collection
