RES024Description
Built possibly pre-1900 by J. L. B. Manning, carpenter, and Samuel Lord. In 1934-35 two front bedrooms, 2 baths and a garage were added. The contractor was Anton Jensen. In the late 1950s retaining walls of sandstone from the Greystone quarry on Almaden Rd. were added. Apparently this dwelling was one of the first built (perhaps for speculation or as rentals) in the Broadway area. Numbers 85, 89, and 93 had identical floor plans. In 1890 the house was owned by John Teed. Owners in 1921 were William and Pearl Griffith. Pearl Griffith was John Teed's niece. Residents included Hans E. and Sadie Nielsen, founder of Meadow Gold Creamery, in 1934, and Mrs. Cora S. Muir, a member of the Muir Woods family, in 1946. In 1948, the property was purchased by Edward and Lois Steffani, and in 1967 by Ellis and Margaret Fenley. In 1970 the owners were Patrick and LaRue Boner. The house received a Bellringer plaque in 1976. RES024Collection
