Description

Built in 1890 by a wagon manufacturer, Thomas Mitchell, this Queen Anne style home was occupied until 1910 by Mitchell and his wife, Martha. In 1910, widowed, Martha sold the property. In 1913 Charles F. Hamsher, local banker and civic leader lived here until 1933. Several owners occupied the house until 1972 when Dennis and Kathy Varni bought it and began an extended renovation. They expanded the house in 1999-2000 to add a master bedroom, creating a tower and additional porch on the left side of the house, after doing much research to be sure the addition was in keeping with the original structure.
