RES364Description
Known as the John C. Miles house, this 2-story, Queen Anne was built in 1892-93 by John C. Miles, a contractor. Typical features are the wrap-around porch, and ornamental features on the gable and porch supports. Miles lived in this house in the winter, but spent his summers in Maine. His first wife died, but his second wife lived in the house until 1930. The house had multiple residents, and was divided into apartments and then a duplex, until 1963 when the new owners returned it to a single residence. After the 1989 earthquake, the chimney had to be rebuilt, and the owner installed a new foundation. The home has been used as a movie setting. RES364Collection
