Fairview Plaza Project - 1927. An article in the March 3, 1927 Los Gatos Mail News reads as follows: "Does Los Gatos back its Camp Fire girls? We say it does! Because of the great generosity of the Los Gatos business men the "Bird Sanctuary" (Fairview Plaza) is well underway toward being a spot of beauty. Bailey, Sterling and Norton-Phelps Lumber companies have not only most generously donated all lumber necessary for benches and flag pole but delivered the lumber. Mr. L. G. Case donates his time for the construction of benches. Curtis and Templeman Hardware stores have donated a generous supply of paint. McAbee and Bruegge have supplied redwood saw dust and 'Growsit' for improving the clay soil. R.B. Bell Co. supplied gravel and cement for the bird bath foundations. Mrs. Elliott, Mr. Hall, Mr. Volpe and Mrs. L. G. Case have donated plants. Alec Wilson, Victor Vober, and Colt and John Kimbal generously carry supplies too heavy for the girls, and are also the official diggers. Mr. F. W. Johnson is the official pruner. We are still in need of a large picnic table, neat signs, and garbage pails. Miss G. E. Record is in charge of the work and will receive all donations at 44 Fairview Plaza." CFG007Collection
