Bond issues in 1915, 1916 and 1926 provided funds for two La France fire engines and a modern firehouse. Before then the fire equipment available consisted of three hose carts and a hand-drawn hook and ladder wagon. In 1970 the LGFD joined the Santa Clara County Central Fire District.
