Bruce is shown in his stroller in the front yard of 42 Broadway, along with his Easter rabbit. Virginia Stocker Leighton Brown (1869-1939), Bruce's grandmother, is at right. At the age of 12, Bruce had a "Liberty Magazine" route in Los Gatos, an enterprise which he purchased from Jack Vodden for $1.00. The magazine was 5 cents, Bruce recalled, and the carrier earned half that amount for each one delivered. FRA056
