At the completion of her first-grade year at the Los Gatos Grammar School, Mima Templeman was awarded this "Certificate of Special Merit" for studiousness signed by her teacher, Louise Van Meter in her best Palmer Method penmanship. At age 100, Mima is proud of her achievement and keeps the certificate in her scrapbook. Mima told Library Director Peggy Conaway that Miss Van Meter had a pointer that she'd use to tap you on the shoulder if you were misbehaving. When the class photograph was taken, the "good children" got to sit in the front, and hold toys. Mima says she never got there! TEM010c
