Back To The Future (1985) Hand-Drawn Andrew Probert Delorean Time Machine Concept SketchEntry/Object ID
AWPS4Description
A concept sketch of the DeLorean time machine hand-drawn by renowned storyboard artist and concept designer Andrew Probert for the production of Robert Zemeckis' Back to the Future. Emmett "Doc" Brown's (Christopher Lloyd) time-traveling DeLorean was the signature vehicle throughout the original Back to the Future trilogy, used throughout each film by Brown and Marty McFly (Michael J. Fox) as they scrambled to save history.
The world-famous high-tech vehicle was designed by Probert and effects consultant Michael Fink based on original concepts by time travel consultant Ron Cobb. The DeLorean underwent numerous design iterations during pre-production with Probert adding such futuristic details as a redesigned atomic reactor and new flux emission bands before its approval by Zemeckis and co-writer/producer Bob Gale.
This sketch of the DeLorean and its classic "NOTIME" license plate - later seen onscreen as "OUTATIME" - as seen from the back is rendered, dated "09 03 84," and signed by Probert in ink on illustration board. It exhibits light smudging and discoloration from production and age. Dimensions: 15.25" x 10" (41 cm x 25.5 cm)
