Description
A concept sketch of the DeLorean time machine's profile view hand-drawn by DeLorean time travel consultant Ron Cobb for Robert Zemeckis' Back to the Future. Doctor Emmett Brown (Christopher Lloyd) was forced to help Marty McFly (Michael J. Fox) fix the future after sending him back to 1955 in his time-traveling DeLorean.
Following the massive global success of Back to the Future and its two sequels - both of which featured it as Marty and Doc's signature vehicle - the DeLorean became an emblem of 1980s popular culture and one of science-fiction's most recognizable vehicles. Preliminary illustrations such as this were among the earliest designs created for the now-classic time machine.
This sketch depicting the beloved automobile's body seen from the left side originated from a crew member. It is rendered and signed in graphite and ink on drawing paper by Cobb. Also faintly visible on the right side of the paper are lines from a since-erased sketch of the machine. The sketch exhibits a vertical fold line. Dimensions: 23" x 9" (58.5 cm x 23 cm)
