Description

Leslie "Spike" O'Malley's (Darlene Vogel) lightweight hoverboard from Robert Zemeckis' Back to the Future Part II. Spike and the rest of Griff Tannen's (Thomas F. Wilson) gang chased Marty McFly (Michael J. Fox) through the 2015 Hill Valley town square on their customized hoverboards, though Marty got the last laugh when the gang was arrested at the Courthouse. The only woman in Tannen's gang, the bold designs of Spike's hoverboard helped her stand out from her male peers. Since the film's release on video, and later, DVD and streaming services, Spike's hoverboard became a popular subject of analysis for its show-stopping (though accidental) collision with a pillar of the Courthouse Mall at the end of the classic chase sequence. This hoverboard is made of lightweight rigid styrofoam, painted black with gold-color speckles, and applied with multicolor neon question mark decals on top. The underside is hand-painted "Odd Man Out!" and "The Thrrilll" [sic] alongside a smirking face, the number "7," and several more question marks. Affixed to the bottom are two vacuum-formed plastic hoverpads. The hoverboard is missing its footpad, as well as a side clamp, and exhibits chipping along its edges, some grime in the pads, and paint flaking throughout from production and age. Dimensions: 30" x 10" x 1.5" (76.25 cm x 25.5 cm x 4 cm)
