Gladiator (2000) General Maximus Decimus Meridius' (Russell Crowe) Production-Made Armor Components
Entry/Object ID
OPPS139
Description
General Maximus Decimus Meridius' (Russell Crowe) armor components from the production of Ridley Scott's Gladiator. Maximus wore his armored cuirass and helmet when he surveyed his troops and met with Emperor Marcus Aurelius (Richard Harris) following the battle of Germania.
This lot consists of a cast urethane helmet and a urethane cuirass with front and back pieces, both of which were made during production but ultimately unfinished and unseen in the final cut. They are painted to resemble bronze with silver-color embellishments of a wolf's head. The chestpiece also features two gryphons and swirling feather laurels, while the helmet features moveable cheek guards and a brown synthetic hair plume on top. The cuirass features cord ties on the sides and leather tabs on the shoulders.
Also included is a brown woven waffle-pattern tunic. These armor components exhibit scuffing, chipped and flaking paint, and adhesive residue on the fin, while the tunic is lightly discolored with some pulled threads.
