OPPS161Description
Clayton Moore's Stetson hat used for promotional appearances as the titular character of George W. Trendle and Fran Striker's The Lone Ranger. In the classic series, the Lone Ranger wore his signature hat in order to keep his identity secret as he brought justice to outlaws.
The Lone Ranger proved so popular as a radio show that it was made into a television series, becoming ABC's first-ever. In 2005, Moore was nominated for a TV Land Award® for Favorite Crimestopper for his more than 170 appearances as the character between television and two feature films. In the ensuing years, Moore appeared at numerous promotional events in costume as the character, forever cementing his association with the masked hero.
This white beaver felt Stetson hat (Size 6 3/4) originates from Moore's personal collection. It features a leather sweatband stamped with Nudie's Rodeo Tailors logo and some thread remnants from where vintage silk inner lining was previously attached. The hat exhibits discoloration on the interior and separated seams along the band from wear and age.Other Names and Numbers
