A display tube containing a VX canister's cap and pearl strings from Michael Bay's The Rock. Rogue Marines led by Brigadier General Frank Hummel (Ed Harris) stole canisters of poisonous VX gas which Dr. Stanley Goodspeed (Nicholas Cage) and John Mason (Sean Connery) later extracted from missiles to render them inoperable. The Rock grossed $25 million in its opening weekend, beating Mission: Impossible for the No. 1 spot. It was nominated for the Academy Award® for Best Sound and stars Cage and Connery won the MTV Movie Award® for Best On-Screen Duo. The Rock is Spine #108 in the Criterion Collection, one of only two Michael Bay films to make it into the celebrated cinema collection so far. This lot consists of strings of glass "pearls" containing remnants of green aloe vera gel (believed to be original from production) with copper wire running down their sides. Each string leads to functionless copper and rubber-covered wiring affixed to the underside of a metal cap. The whole assembly has been put inside of a transparent display tube on a base featuring the film's title logo.
