Star Wars: Promotional Lot Including A McQuarrie Art Portfolio And Revenge Of The Jedi BannersEntry/Object ID
AWH19Description
Star Wars Promotional Lot including a McQuarrie Art Portfolio and Revenge of the Jedi banners (20th Century Fox / Lucasfilm, 1977-83). This expansive collection captures the earliest waves of Star Wars marketing history, from Ralph McQuarrie's pre-production vision to the promotional push for Return of the Jedi. Anchoring the lot is the 1979 McQuarrie Art Portfolio, still sealed within its embossed Vader-emblem envelope, housed in the original mailer box (which shows heavy edge and surface wear). Rare in any condition, this folio delivers a pristine presentation of the concept art that helped greenlight a galaxy far, far away. Also included are 3 original 1982 "Revenge of the Jedi" fold-out promotional banners, with two marked as Variety advertising supplements-each exhibiting substantial wear, creasing, and edge fray, but retaining vivid pre-title-change logos. A Burger King/Coca-Cola "Super Scene Collection" sticker album holds three full interior scenes (stickers 4-6, A-D), though the cover is crumpled with edge damage.
From Lucasfilm's internal playbook comes a Return of the Jedi marketing guide, a thick monochrome briefing prepared by 20th Century Fox detailing the 1983 campaign strategy. Supporting materials include a Star Wars (1977) souvenir program, an Empire Strikes Back advance screening flyer for the May 19, 1980 Northpoint Theater event in San Francisco, and a ROTJ production staff program-all showing heavy handling wear, creases, and edge fray consistent with age and use. Rounding out the lot are a vintage decal transfer sheet, sugar-free Star Wars bubble gum wrappers (with image inserts including multiple C-3POs), and eleven early 1977 Star Wars trading cards (#1-9, 11, 13-15) from 20th Century Fox. These cards range from moderately to heavily worn, offering a tactile link to the original blue-border card craze that swept through schoolyards in 1977. This ephemera archive serves as a tactile timeline of Star Wars' rise from cinematic gamble to global brand-ideal for collectors looking to assemble a foundational suite of promotional artifacts that shaped the earliest era of the franchise.Type of Print
