Set of 10 snowspeeder concept artworks and 32 model photos from Irvin Kershner's Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back. Rebel pilots, including Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill), flew modified airspeeders known as snowspeeders in the Battle of Hoth, using their tow cables to take down the Galactic Empire's All Terrain Armored Transports (AT-ATs). This lot consists of five hand-drawn and handwritten concept sketches and notes rendered in graphite on tracing paper; five printed design sketches; 23 sepia and black-and-white model miniature reference photos; and eight color Polaroid reference photos featuring handwritten notes rendered in graphite in an envelope marked "Snowspeeder." The hand-drawn sketches, as well as the original design sketches from which the five prints in this lot were made, were all drawn in the Industrial Light & Magic (ILM) model shop during creation of the snowspeeder models. This set comes in a manila envelope marked "Snowspeeder Dwgs & Photos of Prototype. The tracing paper exhibits discoloration and tearing from production and age.
