Star Wars: The Phantom Menace (1999) Obi-Wan Kenobi's (Ewan Mcgregor) Framed Padawan Braid
Entry/Object ID
OPPS194
Description
Obi-Wan Kenobi's (Ewan McGregor) framed Padawan braid from George Lucas' Star Wars: The Phantom Menace. Keeping with the Jedi tradition, Kenobi wore a braid in his hair while serving as an apprentice knight under the tutelage of Qui-Gon Jinn (Liam Neeson). According to Claudia Gray's Master & Apprentice, Kenobi habitually tugged at his braid while training.
Padawan braids wrapped with multicolor bands or strung with beads symbolized rank among the Jedi across the franchise. The concealment or removal of the sacred adornments became tragic symbols of the Galactic Empire's tyranny after Sheev Palpatine (Ian McDiarmid) initiated Order 66 in Revenge of the Sith.
This braid originated from renowned Star Wars franchise hair stylist Sue Love. It features synthetic brown hair tied with one band of red thread and two bands of gold-color thread. The braid comes mounted behind glass inside a custom display case alongside a color-printed still of Obi-Wan wielding his lightsaber. It exhibits adhesive residue at the top from being glued during production. Dimensions: (framed) 20" x 15" x 1.5" (51 cm x 38.25 cm x 4 cm)
