Description

Emma Moore-Pomona. a North Fork Mono woman, is shown here among some of the baskets she made. She was known for a style of basket, the "Shoe Basket", of which a photo of one of her baskets is included in the Native American Collection. Emma was married to Willie Pomona and they had 3 daughters; Ethel, Ruby and Jane. Emma, along withf her daughters, contracted Tuberculosis in the early 1930's. Ethel and Ruby were sent to Fort Bidwell's Tuberculosis Sanitarium during which time both Emma and Jane died of the disease.
