Description

Powerhouse #3, of the Big Creek Hydroelectric Project, came online in 1923 and combined the flows of Big Creek and the San Joaquin River. This powerhouse was capable of generating 75 megawatts of energy, a huge amount at the time, and was the largest hydroelectric plant in the West.
